Job Description:
1. Position Summary :
The Quality Lab Chemist is the technical resource for the lab. The Chemist must have in -depth understanding of the methods and instruments used for quality control testing. That includes ICP - MS , FTIR , Raman Spectroscopy, HPLC, particle sizing and instrument analysis techniques. H e/ s he needs to understand the dangers of the testing, so that they can make the quality lab a safe environment. The Chemist must be able to fix instrument issues including trouble shooting , understanding trends in test results, and lead projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce the variation of the lab measurements . Besides, he/ she w ould support analytical method development , improvement , transferring for NPI or HVM products , and support ing a ctivities related to quality control (MSA, QMS) . Bring to resol ve customer complaints /inquiries regarding product quality and service if it ' s proper . Also support the measurement s request from customer and other global site.
2 . Key Results/Responsibilities:
- Support for a nalytical method development , transferring, improvement , and R&D special study . Transferring/d eveloping analy tical method for new products and interesting analysis . D esign and execute MSA (measurement systems analysis) for evaluating the new method . Transferring technology (new instruments, test methods) thro ugh training for routine test if getting good MSA results. On the contrary, improving the analytical method and evaluate it again. Establish the SOP (standard operating procedure ) and WI (work instruction) related to quality control . Make sure all the analytical method could be reliable and transferred to routine test .
- All activities related to the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment and instrument . I nclud ing but not limited to trouble shooting , preventative maintenance, support repair activities, and developing a critical spares/lab supplies to minimize downtime. Ensure all document s of supporting repair, maintenance, calibrations/verifications, and test would be developed , maintained and updated . Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) administration activities.
- Plan the MSA and maintenance of analytical equipment and instrument s for routine tes t . Plan the MSA schedule and period time for maintenance as required . Monitor the process and evalua t e all the MSA results. See if any analytical method should be improved after that . M ak e the routine test for raw materials and final products more reliable.
- Timely responses to all quality related issues and support the measurement s requested from customers and other sites. Understand the purpose, communicate with customer facing team , design experiment s for root cause by suitable instrument s , and report the results.
3 . Job Specifications
Key knowledge, skills , and abilities :
- Competency in statistical methodology (SPC), quality systems, and root cause analysis is required .
- Experienced with databases, statistical software, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Excellent problems solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task, good organizational skills.
- Attentive to details with a strong customer focus.
- Effective communication skills, strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of quality systems and customer audits .
- English speaking/writing/hearing/reading should be fluen t .
Applicable Education, Experience, Licensing , and Capabilities:
- Experiences in trace metals analysis techniques (ICP-MS) and analyzing the molecular structure of substances technique s ( FTIR , Raman Spectroscopy) are mandatory .
- Bach e lor degree in Chemical Engineering and/or Chemistry , Biology .
- Over f ive years for e xtensive background with chemistry and analytical laboratory techniques .
