Position description The UCI Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in structural engineering. Candidates with a strong background in emerging experimental, computational, and/or theoretical approaches to advance structural focus includes, but is not limited to, AI in structural engineering, infrastructure health monitoring at scale, and construction automation; structural engineering-based focus areas like automated modular construction and construction robotics; resilience and sustainability of AI-generated and robotically manufactured structures and the impact of automation on infrastructure life cycle; novel experimental, numerical, and/or AI integrated techniques in performance based structural engineering; and decision making through data science applications for structural systems. The successful candidate will have demonstrated potential to achieve excellence in research, teaching, and professional activities.
