Assistant Professor of Human Development Description of Department: Human Development at SUNY Oswego is a collegial department with seven full-time faculty members. The department is student-learning focused and values innovative approaches to teaching and research as well as high-impact practices such as internships. The Human Development program is offered both on our main campus as well as at Syracuse Campus (with an online major in development) and has 350 majors and minors with an increasingly diverse student body. The Human Development Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full time Assistant Professor of Human Development. Date of Appointment: August 2025 (or date of obligation) Description of Responsibilities: The Assistant Professor of Human Development will have a strong research agenda and trajectory, as well as relevant teaching experience in the field of Human Services and lifespan development with an emphasis in adult development. The Assistant Professor will teach a variety of core and elective courses in their area of research, reinforcing the department's coverage of the latter part of the lifespan. In addition to teaching responsibilities, student advisement and university service are expected. Job Requirements: Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Human Development, Human Services, or a related field at the time of appointment. Strong research agenda and trajectory in the lifespan with an emphasis in adult development. Relevant in-person and online teaching experience in the area of research as well as in the broader discipline of Human Development. Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity and ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds Preferred Qualifications: Ability to teach courses specifically relevant to a Human Services degree. Ability to teach a variety of courses in the curriculum of the Human Development program and create new courses in the fields of Human Services and Adult Development and Aging. Ability to teach courses that will broaden the diversity of the department's curriculum. Demonstrated ability to create partnerships and work with external partners. Teach courses at SUNY Oswego's Syracuse campus.
