Organization Overview The Comparative Bioscience Center provides a comprehensive program of animal care in support of the University's in vivo research. The goal of our staff is to provide investigators with the highest level of research support at the lowest cost while ensuring the welfare of the animals used in the research. The center is fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC). Overview Reporting to the Facility Operations Supervisor, the Cage Wash Attendant is primarily responsible for cage sanitation, physical plant maintenance, and the safe operation of sanitation equipment. The role is managed by the Operations Lead. Responsibilities Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Operate machinery, including laundry, autoclaves, equipment washers, and hoists; movement of equipment throughout the facility and maintaining clean conditions within the cage wash area; Maintain clean hallways by removing dirty equipment to the cage-wash area for processing. They must maintain ample clean autoclave supplies; Contribute to the collection of waste, mopping floors, changing light bulbs, restocking supplies, and fulfilling appropriate requests; Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: HS Diploma/GED and ALAT certification is required. Must have good communication skills. Must be able to push or pull weight bearing wheeled carts weighing approximately 500 lbs. and the lifting capability of approximately 50 lbs.
