Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a FGP Clinical Immunogenetics Technologist IV.
In this role, the successful candidate The Clinical Immunogenetics Technologist IV Molecular Technical Specialist supports the Transplant Institute Immunogenetics Laboratory by serving as the lead technologist for all of the high-complexity molecular assays performed in the laboratory This individual will demonstrate theoretical technical and analytical expertise in molecular testing as well as strong organizational and leadership skills Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain NYSDOH licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or NYSDOH restricted licensure in histocompatibility.
Job Responsibilities:
Receive/accession specimens and verify all information is accurate and complete.
Maintain competency in each laboratory assay.
Accurately document all laboratory results and ensure all records are complete.
Maintain computer records for patient data test results reagents and supplies.
Participate in laboratory quality control and equipment maintenance nbsp;
Perform proficiency testing on a rotational basis
Prepare laboratory reagents nbsp;
Perform inventory checks
Maintain a safe and clean laboratory area
Adhere to all laboratory and institutional policies and procedures
Participate in continuing education programs and maintain CE credits for NYSDOH and MT ASCP if applicable accreditation
Rotate on-call coverage for stat procedures nbsp;
Teach laboratory procedures to extra-departmental staff including residents and fellows as well as visiting students and clinicians.
Train Clinical Technologist I II amp; III and Laboratory Assistant personnel
Perform competency assessments for Clinical Technologist I II amp; III nbsp;
Troubleshoot techniques and instrumentation issues
Validate new assays
Write and validate new SOPs
Accurately analyze interpret and report results
Participate in research development and implementation of improved or new clinical laboratory techniques and procedures.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of histocompatibility and immunogenetics theory and applications.
Maintain technical and behavioral competencies
Perform all other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a 1 Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or MT ASCP certification or a bachelor's degree in Biology or Chemistry or equivalent 2 Meets requirements to obtain a New York State Department of Health full license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist CLT or a restricted license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in Histocompatibility CLT HICO 3 Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills 4 Expertise in dealing with scientific principals involved in the methodology performed as well as alternative methodologies and their application to a given situation 5 Experience with Microsoft office hospital-based and laboratory-based software systems 6 Three years as a Clinical Immunogenetics Technologist III or seven years experience in other high complexity clinical or research testing 7 Proven leadership skills 8 Must be available to report to work within one hour of STAT testing requests.

Preferred Qualifications:
1 American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics ACHI Certified Histocompatibility Technologist CHT 2 American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics ACHI Certified Histocompatibility Specialist CHS 3 Five years experience in Histocompatibility Immunogenetics testing with a concentration in molecular testing 4 New York State Department of Health full license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist CLT or a restricted license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in Histocompatibility CLT HICO

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York State Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $138,330.00 - $138,330.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs.
