This is an academic emergency medicine position with a faculty appointment with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The faculty member is expected to have an area of academic focus in emergency medicine education or research with scholarly productivity represented by publications and grants in the area of expertise. A minimum of 10%-40% protected time will be allocated for academic work, depending on previous experience and funding. The physician will serve as an attending physician in the Emergency Department at the Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, Hasbro Children?s Hospital Emergency Departments and clinical work at Newport Hospital Emergency Department may be arranged depending on need. 1)Assistant or Associate Professor level; 2) Completion of an ACGME-approved Emergency Medicine Residency; 3) Board certification in Emergency Medicine; 4) Meets requirements and obtains Rhode Island Medical Licensure and clinical privileges in Emergency Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children?s Hospital and/or The Miriam Hospital; and/or Newport Hospital; 5) Previous record of scholarly activity in emergency medicine research and/or education in a focused area with extramural support, publications, and presentations of this work. Preferred qualifications: 1) Advanced degree or fellowship training in an area of expertise;2) Ability to create and lead an independently funded unit in the area of research; 3) Leadership in organizations in emergency medicine and/or in the area of focus in research or education; 4) Preferred area of research/scholarly interest in one of the following areas: cardiovascular emergencies, trauma, neurological emergencies, sepsis and shock, emergency ultrasound, medical simulation, injury prevention, medical devices, women's health, toxicology, education research, clinical informatics, heath policy and translational research; Please upload your Cover Letter, CV and 3 references to Interfolio.
