Locations: City of Industry & Ontario, CA

The Human Resources Business Partner will have responsibility for employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, talent management and human resources metrics at their sites. They will work closely with the site leadership teams to achieve the short and long-term goals for the facility, assist with human resource initiatives designed to drive continuous improvement of Human Resources and business performance metrics, and provide day-to-day HR functional support.

The ideal candidate must be able to cover two locations and be adept at establishing strong lines of communication and building trust amongst the employees. Forming a strong partnership with the site leaders will be a key component to success in this role.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Create strategic business partnerships with front-line employees and supervisors to promote positive employee relations.
  • Implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures that support the overall business objectives and ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and expertise on HR-related matters to plant management and employees.
  • Champions and supports safety programs and policies. Responsible for being a key member and contributor of safety-related and performance excellence processes.
  • Creates progressive discipline plans to monitor, review and make suggestions for corrective actions for attendance, punctuality, conduct and performance issues.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to manage the recruiting process and ensure accurate, market-based compensation recommendations are provided and best-in-class onboarding practices are utilized.
  • Investigate questions and/or complaints to resolve employee relations issues.
  • Conducts periodic training on applicable topics including sexual harassment, diversity, and employment law.
  • Serve as first point of contact for labor relations to manage grievance procedures and
  • administration of the collective bargaining agreement and labor union contract negotiations
  • Travel as required.
What you need to succeed :
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred with a focus on human resources, organizational development or business.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience. SHRM or HRCI certifications are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and HRIS systems
  • Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. Strong analytical/problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to investigate and assess employee conflicts objectively and solve such issues using a variety of methods and tools, including coaching and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and lead change in the work environment
  • Team building and influencing skills.
  • Possess a sense of urgency and self-motivation.
  • Proven success in applying fresh ideas, creative thinking and a growth mindset to complex challenges/problems resulting in high impact outcomes.
  • Excellent cross-group collaboration, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.

The salary range for this position is $77,625.00 - $129,375.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and a number of programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work. Your actual pay will be based on your work location and other factors, such as your skills, experience, and education.
