The Emergency Medical Science Program Director in collaboration with the Dean of Human Services and Public Safety provides the vision and leadership required to realize the mission of the program and the college at large. Specifically, they will provide oversight to the Emergency Medical Science ( EMS ) credit and non-credit programming for pre-service and in-service public safety professionals. Primary administrative responsibilities include program development/management, continuous review, planning, budget administration, general effectiveness of the program, accreditation, and providing supervision and mentoring to full and part time faculty. Instructional responsibilities require a broad-based knowledge of the emergency medical science field of study and all standards and practices at the local, state and national levels. Additionally, they will be responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Science, education or health-related field from a regionally accredited college or university. Current North Carolina Paramedic Credential Current North Carolina Level II Paramedic Instructor American Heart Association Basic Life Support ( BLS ), Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS ) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support ( PALS ) Instructor Valid Driver's License Education Preferred: Master's degree in Emergency Medical Science, education or health-related field from a regionally accredited college or university Experience Required: Five years of relevant field experience in Emergency Medical Science Three years of post-secondary teaching and/or industry training experience Experience Preferred: More than five years of relevant field experience in Emergency Medical Science Three years of post-secondary teaching and/or industry training experience Clinical teaching experience Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems Experience in budget preparation, employee supervision, inventory management and course development Experience in Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs ( CAAHEP ) accreditation of EMS educational programs
