Purpose:
This position works in Human Resources, Safety Environmental, and Health. This position is responsible for implementing safety environmental policies and procedures through innovation, governance, and management necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor the company's financial risk for safety and workers' compensation. This position is responsible for partnering cross-functionally and coordinating annual safety and regulatory required training. Provides ongoing personnel safety training as required by OSHA.
Responsibility:
- Lead the Employee Engagement and Safety Committee.
- Write safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Train and track safety and environmental policies monthly.
- Manage all environmental and safety audits with government agencies.
- Manage all workers comp claims.
- Compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. Implement and maintain environmental/health & safety management systems.
- Prepare & submit regulatory reports to local, state, federal & county entities as required (including OSHA requirements).
- Monitor legislative changes and recommendations based on their potential impact on the business.
- Coordinate all COVID-19-related activities including, but not limited to, training, auditing program effectiveness, maintaining up-to-date crisis management plans managing entry programs, and being a subject matter expert for COVID and other safety-related questions.
- Maintaining up-to-date Injury Illness Prevention Program including JSAs, SOPs, safety programs, safe work practices, and equipment.
- Responsible for managing workers compensation claims and returning employees to work through our modified duty programs.
- Develop safety and environmental policies and procedures standards to comply with federal state, and county requirements.
- Prepare and conduct training, and inspections, and enforce safety policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
- Evaluating, and implementing safety and environmental practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law and insurance requirements.
- Responsible for partnering cross-functionally and coordinating annual safety and regulatory required training as required by OSHA.
- Responsible for informing senior management on risk management issues that directly impact the strategic direction of the company.
- Responsible for ensuring consistency in all company processes through written procedures and training.
- Recognized risk leader, who is a dynamic, proactive, and decisive person. Adapts well to and initiates change in the organization. Seeks ways to optimize risks in the organization as a competitive business advantage.
- Review workers compensation and general liability insurance policies for possible cost savings or gaps.
- Represents the company, as required, on specific projects and during regulatory & agency audits, including documentation preparation.
- Performs safety evaluations and runs site safety committee and ergonomics programs. Chair or co-chair and lead the Employee Engagement and Safety committees
- Never operate any equipment you are not properly trained on and have not inspected before use, for example, but not limited to vehicles, tractors, forklifts, mowers, drill presses, grinders, hydraulic presses, welders, and other general equipment.
- Follow all safety rules, policies, procedures, and Job Safety Analysis for each job. These are found on Teams/General Channel/Belkorpag/Safety.
- Report all unsafe findings you see to your manager immediately or through Everyone Speaks anonymously on Teams/General Channel/Everyone Speaks.
- Support HR as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- 5 7 years of safety supervisory experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, merchandise, or distribution setting.
- Must have 2 years of federal and state compliance requirements experience
- Must have experience with writing safety policies and procedures
- Adapts well to and initiates change in the organization.
- Highly motivated; works well with others and models professionalism.
- Sound knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Excellent internal and external customer relationship skills.
