Available Title(s): 306-NNFACULTY - Postdoctoral Research Associate Business Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate Employee Type: Faculty (+) (Fixed Term) Position Term: 12 Month Position Details: Summary of Duties: Working under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Research Associate will have the opportunity to be a part of an active dynamic research program focused on improving community-based strategies and behavioral treatments for youth and adults experiencing the early stages of psychosis. This includes individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders. Research foci will also include examining and addressing disparities among racially and ethnically minoritized and underserved populations. The fellow will also have the opportunity to work with other behavioral health researchers as part of the Promoting Research Initiatives in Substance Use and Mental Health (PRISM) Collaborative ( https://www.prismcollab.org/ ). The primary duties of this position will be to define research problems, approaches or hypothesis, and methodology, design specific phases of research projects, carry out complex analyses (qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods), analyze results, develop conclusions and hypotheses, and/or present research findings in publishable form. Specific duties and responsibilities include: Assisting in the coordination of ongoing research projects. Publishing key results in peer-reviewed journals. Assisting the PI, as well as other collaborating investigators, with scientific development, data analyses, and grant writing, as needed. Applying for extramural research funding. Taking appropriate steps towards becoming an independent investigator/faculty member. Participating in didactic training opportunities offered at WSU. May perform other duties as required. Duties and Responsibilities: 60% Research 20% Data Management and Reporting 15% Professional Development 5% Other Required Qualifications: An earned terminal degree in an appropriate field such as public health, psychology, social work, sociology, medicine, or a related field and relevant experience. Additional Qualifications: Experience authoring professional presentations or peer-reviewed publications. Experience preparing technical reports and manuscripts. Proactive problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and ability to take appropriate autonomous initiative to carry out study related functions. Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Outstanding ethics and confidentiality in dealing with scientific data and results. Aptitude for academic rigor using qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed-methods. Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products (e.g., SharePoint, Powerpoint). Demonstrable experience developing, managing, or maintaining research databases (e.g., REDCap). Must be willing to work evenings and weekends on occasion to meet the needs of the project, including scheduling participant visits and contacts, as well as meeting project deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: Experience conducting mental health services and community-based participatory research. Excellent scientific writing and oral expression skills.
