Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Perinatal & Maternal Designation Coordinator, you will be responsible for conducting Performance Improvement activities, critical care OB patient chart review, daily patient rounds and participate in nursing education. You will provide educational/training presentations for all nursing staff related to critical care of the obstetrical patient and outreach activities interacting with other healthcare entities, pre-hospital care providers and presenting/participating in injury prevention programs to interested organizations and the general public and other duties as assigned.

As the Perinatal & Maternal Designation Coordinator,

* You will demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and St. David’s Georgetown Hospital.

* You will develop and oversee the curriculum for critical care training for OB nurses including initial entrance into the program as well as maintenance of skills.

* You will provide classes/skills labs to both CC OB nurses and women’s services nurses regarding physiology of high-risk pregnancy and management of certain conditions that may not require a fully trained CC OB nurse.

* You will collaborate with Women’s Services Nurse Educator in preparing and administering annual team-based learning scenarios for all physicians and nurses.

* You will collaborate with SDMC maternal navigator in regards to OB patients with very high-risk conditions requiring multidisciplinary care at time of delivery and postpartum.

* You will complete quarterly assessment of designation requirements assuring that we continue to meet the standards necessary for Level II.

* You will attend quarterly CATRAC meetings that must be 100% per TDH

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

* Five years as Labor and Delivery RN – required

* Graduate of or currently participating in SDH PEAK Leadership Program - preferred

Education

* Bachelor of Science in Nursing – required

* Master of Science in Nursing - preferred

License and Certifications

* Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire – required

* BLS certification as per SDH policy

* ACLS certification as per SDH policy

* Current certification as a Provider in either OB ACLS, NRP - required

* AWHONN Intermediate FM and/or Advance Fetal Monitoring - required

* Certified in specialty area - preferred
