Job Summary
Auburn University is excited to begin the search for a Communication and Marketing Website Designer to join the Office of Communications and Marketing team! In this position, you will focus on the visual and user experience aspects of website design, creating aesthetically pleasing layouts, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes while ensuring usability and accessibility. You will also collaborate with development teams by providing detailed design specifications and feedback, and support users with training and quality assurance.

Essential Functions
Purpose:
- Design visually appealing and user-centered websites and web pages that meet the needs of internal and partner projects on campus.
- Make strategic decisions regarding design and user experience, ensuring that all new and existing features align with optimal usability and visual appeal.
- Support quality assurance to maintain high standards of design, usability, and functionality.
- Work closely with the web development lead and the web/digital project manager to create project plans that align with team standards and best practices, defining tasks and timelines to ensure project success.
- Train and guide team members and other stakeholders in using website features and functionalities effectively, fostering knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Develop user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that are optimized for a range of devices and interfaces, creating a cohesive and responsive user experience.
- Analyze project requirements and ask targeted questions to gather the necessary details for effective design solutions and continuous improvements.
- Implement high-quality designs into fully functional web pages, ensuring an optimized and seamless user experience across various devices.
- Support the design process by ensuring all digital assets meet usability standards, working through testing phases to refine and finalize web elements for launch.

Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.
