Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager IT, Application Development position will lead a development team focused on defining, building and executing on the SHARES PSS (Passenger Service System) multi year modernization project. The position will also be responsible for the development and maintenance support of the applications once in production.
This role will build these applications with a focus on delivering cloud-based solutions. The individual will use groundbreaking technologies and enterprise grade integration software daily and will be relied upon to help take the team to the next level. This role demands a strong leader who can oversee budgets, deliverables, development metrics and resource planning. This position will collaborate extensively with other areas of the PSS team and UA Digital Technology including Product, Architecture, Platform Ops and EQA.
This position will have a strong focus on implementing new enterprise technology needed to support of PSS Modernization, supporting the applications once in production and as well as partnering with enterprise teams to advance the technology ecosystem to support the new applications.

PSS Modernization Roadmap Delivery
- Lead activities to focus on modernizing PSS (SHARES) with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions to support the program needs
- Collaborate with product and architecture teams to design, develop, deploy and support new PSS modernization applications
- Oversee and lead modernization projects to ensure delivery of work requests and projects are within committed budget, on schedule, and the quality of individual projects meets the overall program performance goals
- Ensure the quality of the code delivered but preparing project correctly, working well with other teams, ensuring standards are met, using tools where available, validating work and taking corrective action when required.
- Manage development and application KPIs, take corrective actions where necessary proper documentation of applications and implement continuous improvements
Development Standards, Tools & Architecture
- Ensure IT application development process disciplines (solution delivery, project management, work requests, QA, etc.) and standards are established, effectively managed and performed
- Play a key role in formulating and following the procedures and processes for development
- Play a key role with the formation of agile delivery teams for development and technology delivery
- Create a team structure and process for quality control during development, testing for debugging code and deployment
- Remain informed of new technologies and/or business processes and incorporating those technologies to improve the productivity of the applications staff and software systems' maintainability including AI
- Drive continuous improvement and be adaptable to changing designs and to adding performance enhancements
Leadership
- Lead a multi-functional impactful team responsible for designing, developing, and maintains cloud based PSS Modernization applications.
- Manage vendor development teams assigned to projects and core support
- Foster professional development and energy in the team
- Establish department and individual goals
- Assess and recommend improvements to the organization structure, roles and responsibilities
- Participate actively in future strategy, goals, objectives, and operational performance
- Create and maintain a high performance by interacting and mentoring junior and senior level developers
- Perform short and long term resources planning to ensure the proper number of resources and right skills are available to meet project goals and schedules
- Use creative and proactive leadership skills to address project challenges and opportunities

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree
- 7+ years of related work experience
- Experience in application development and/or data engineering development
- Experience working within Agile project management frameworks
- Cloud experience
- 2+ years of leadership experience in managing multiple cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders
- Experience in large application modernization projects
- Strong project organizations skill, including prioritization, planning and organization
- Strong oral and written communication skills
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- Airline applications background specifically Passenger Service Systems preferred.
- Experience in large application modernization projects
- AWS disciplines
- Knowledge of Microsoft .NET Framework, Microsoft NET Core, SQL, NoSQL and Design Patterns
