Nightwing is looking for a Government Relations Intern to support the organization. If you would like to work in a dynamic environment and possess the motivation and skills to incorporate new ideas into practice, this may be an opportunity for you. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability and confidence to decipher direction and ultimately meet or exceed expectations. Candidates must be professional, possess a positive attitude, and work well with engineering and technical teams. The candidate assist in advocating for policies and initiatives that alight with organizational goals. Candidate may have the opportunity to create internal content in support of current and future government relations, topics and agenda.
This is a hybrid position in Dulles, VA. This is a paid internship for summer session 2025.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Conduct research on legislative, regulatory, and public policy issues relevant to the organization
Assist in preparing briefing material, reports and presentations that advance Nightwing GR strategy and outreach
Research legislative developments, market trends and analysis, write summaries for the company intranet with regards to the Federal budget cycle and company impacts
Support special projects such as outreach efforts to enhance engagement with governmental resources
Attend Congressional hearings, briefings and events as needed providing notes and insights
Support visits by NW leaders to Capitol Hill and by elected officials/staff to NW facilities as necessary
Research current industry news related to Nightwing, other Aerospace & Defense peers, and emerging technologies to keep Nightwing aware of competitive landscape
Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled in a degree program related to Business, Public Administration or Policy, Political Science or related discipline
Candidate may be a post graduate student pursuing a master's degree
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Cumulative 3.5 GPA desired
Experience leading a team project
Involvement in school or community activities
Time Management Skills: utilize excellent time management and project management skills to consistently meet deadlines, prioritize tasks appropriately, and delegate when appropriate. Must be able to multitask – demonstrating the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Problem-solving skills: must display the ability to effectively prioritize workload on multiple projects simultaneously and accept changes with short notice and tolerate frequent interruptions
Critical thinking skills: must display strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical capabilities when interacting with clients, direct reports, managers, peers, and stakeholders
Communication skills: must be able to listen carefully to accurately gather facts and figures from clients, managers, peers, and stakeholders. Must also be able to clearly articulate the results of your work and present findings in written reports. Must be able to organize, facilitate, and collaborate within cross-functional teams – demonstrating a collaborative mindset and ability to work with varying and changing needs
Attention to detail: must pay strong attention to detail in order to be able to keep information accurate and organized while utilizing skills and knowledge to quickly learn about the project
Computer literacy: need to be able to use computer-based tools to work effectively. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, & Word) Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe design suite and Google Suites or related software
