Senior Client Development Partner - Military Veterans

This exciting new leadership position is pivotal in driving revenue and developing client relationships, with a particular emphasis on direct client engagement beyond Hearst's top-tier accounts. You'll be at the forefront of identifying new business opportunities across key categories including Beauty, Health & Wellness, Homes, Finance, and Pharma.

With a strong focus on maximising revenue from both Print and Digital Display (Direct and Programmatic), you'll lead client direct relationships, working closely with our brand portfolio directors to strengthen Hearst's market presence. Your role will be to ensure clients receive the best possible service while delivering timely, relevant updates about Hearst's diverse brand offerings.

As the head of the Client Development team, you'll galvanise and inspire your team to achieve ambitious sales targets. Your leadership will be recognised across the industry as you champion Hearst's position and lead the charge in market development.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • First & foremost, responsible for delivering unrivalled client direct relationships at the most senior level establishing yourself as a recognised leader with senior marketing clients across functions & the go-to person at Hearst
  • Lead, support & empower a client centric team providing inspiration, knowledge & guidance to drive both individual development & overall team success
  • Accountable for 360 servicing of existing client relationships to ensure unparalleled level of service for your clients
  • Lead by example bringing the 'hustle' to the role - ensure you & the client development team scour LinkedIn, read industry press & relentlessly scroll competitor brands to determine clients spending in category but not with Hearst
  • Build & nurture relationships with the various portfolio directors & wider Hearst senior management providing them with 'go to' support for all new business client opportunities to maximise the revenue potential for all portfolios
  • Develop the Client Development team to ensure Hearst's presence in market & grow revenue from existing, lapsed & new to Hearst clients
  • Collaborate closely with senior clients to understand their goals, develop customised advertising solutions, provide guidance on media planning, buying & campaign optimisation & new routes to market
  • Work closely with Senior Client Partners to identify opportunities & develop strategies to accelerate client direct relationships & ensure Hearst's continued relevance in market
  • Identify & pursue new business opportunities across all categories with focus on beauty, homes, health & wellness, finance & pharmaceutical categories, leveraging industry knowledge & market insights to drive incremental revenue growth
  • Meet or exceed sales targets by proactively identifying & closing new business deals with clients ensuring a strong pipeline of opportunities
  • Work in tandem with Portfolio Directors to identify & increase the number of £100k+ clients borne out of the client direct function
  • Provide accurate & timely sales forecasts, detailed reports & performance analysis to senior management, tracking key metrics & identifying / implementing areas for improvement
  • Identify & take responsibility for bringing internal cross-functional teams together to tackle industry challenges particularly across digital display (including programmatic) & print
  • Determine strategy for deployment of client specific based value alongside Senior Agency Partner so client development sales team have ability to make informed longer-term decisions based on overall client opportunity for Hearst rather than isolated opportunities
  • Work with Director of Commercial Operations to create calendar of deal-based packages to generate interest & short-term sales potential from client direct business
  • Develop new avenues to maximise the ongoing commerciality of our agency deals (beyond revenue & value) maximising the guaranteed revenue for Hearst
  • Alongside Director of Commercial Operations & Senior Agency Partner help design clear strategy for each Print brand, ensuring client sales team & media planning know expectation & how we'll deliver overall ambition
  • Alongside Director of Commercial Operations design determine sales collateral required to maximise the ongoing opportunity for all client direct display solutions
  • Work with Senior Agency Partner so you & client development team are clear on strategy regarding Hearst's return to No.1 print market share - covering key brands to drive share, content requirements for editorial, minimum pages per issue & 3rd party partner involvement
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing team to ensure the positioning of Hearst publications in the market is compelling, aligns with the overall brand strategy & marries consumer strategies with advertising (especially regarding new membership proposition).
  • Serve as an ambassador for Hearst within the industry by actively participating in relevant events & identifying platforms to represent Hearst. Build relationships with key industry stakeholders, share insights & demonstrate the value of Hearst's GTM membership proposition
  • Represent client sales team as part of UK's senior leadership team & support Client Sales, MD with the ongoing success of the department
  • To be an ambassador of Hearst UK & its values
  • You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications & experience allow &/or as may be assigned to you from time to time


ABOUT YOU

  • Exceptional network of relationships with senior client leadership directly
  • Substantial experience in brand marketing, client sales or business development within the marketing industry
  • Senior management contacts within brand marketing teams
  • Proven track record in successfully developing multi-year brand partnerships, driving revenue growth & achieving client direct defined sales targets
  • Experience delivering revenue across a portfolio of brands & working closely with brand P&L owners
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence & build relationships with internal & external stakeholders
  • Extensive experience at managing and implementing brand centric commercial agreements
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify & pursue new business opportunities, utilising market insights & industry trends
  • Extensive experience in print & digital display (including programmatic) development, revenue management & strategy
  • Proven track record of successfully maintaining & growing display, both print & digital including programmatic, revenues across a portfolio of titles
  • Strong understanding of media planning & the integration of print & digital display (including programmatic) within multi-channel campaigns
  • In-depth understanding of the media industry, advertising landscape & client direct dynamics
  • Excellent sales & negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport, influence stakeholders & close deals / sales opportunities
  • Leadership & team management skills, with experience in leading & motivating a high-performing team
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas & strategies to clients & internal stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines & adapt to changing priorities
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, sales tools, and analytics platforms (especially salesforce)
  • Familiarity with industry trends, competitor landscape & emerging technologies in the publishing (& wider) industry
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically & provide innovative solutions to complex challenges
