Position Specific Description
This position will be a part of the Systems Planning group in the Engineering and Construction (E&C) department of NextEra. The team works with internal NextEra stakeholders to manage the interconnection related studies. This position will be instrumental in supporting the interconnection study process through Commercial Operation and will be a Subject Matter Expert in this area. This position will support the development and execution of NextEra's interconnection strategy.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise to all aspects of generation interconnection processes and operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain close relationships with ISO's/Utilities/Regulatory agencies involved in interconnection processes.
- Develop processes to manage and track the studies and modeling processes for NextEra projects.
- Monitor dynamically changing requirements from regional agencies and advise stakeholders on the expected impacts.
- Ensure compliance with regional modeling requirements for new and existing generation projects.
- Contributes new designs or techniques that others within the industry regard as major advances in their area of expertise.
- Facilitate communication with the internal NextEra Engineering and Construction leadership on updates to interconnection requirements.
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement of NextEra's interconnection business processes.
- Ensures implementation of standards, policies, training, and support of organization.
- Prepares communications, presentations and conducts meetings.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Work with engineering parties to ensure technical items of PPA and IA are met in plant design.
- Knowledge of ISO tariffs and pro forma and non pro forma contracts for multiple regions in US.
- Experience with interconnection studies and related software - PSCAD, PSSE, PSLF, ASPEN and others.
- Familiarity with NERC and FERC technical standards related to transmission and generation interconnection.
- Organizational skills to manage critical deliverables.
- Personal skills to establish professional working relationships with offtaker entities.

• Develops project estimates and budgets
• Ensures that NERC, Regulatory, and Sarbanes-Oxley are compliant
• Acts as technical liaisons and provides training and development for engineering personnel within their areas of expertise
• Develops strategic business plans
• Develops technical interconnections requirements
• Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements
• Ability to work extended hours
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
