Agency-wide Requirements

  • Willing to move to the Washington, DC area
  • Able to complete security and medical evaluations

About the Job

As a Real Estate Officer (REO) for the CIA, you will be responsible for providing innovative solutions for real estate space leasing needs for various US Government Agency customers.

Real Estate Officers must have a solid understanding of the federal procurement process that includes contracting principles, best business practices, Agency and federal acquisition policies, experience purchasing federal land and buildings, and financial expertise. You will be responsible for supporting the Agency's Real Estate Program that acquires, administers, and disposes of real property. You will work with minimal supervision and be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining landlord-Agency relations
  • Negotiating and administering real estate operations and maintenance contract
  • Identifying agency real property needs
  • Providing real estate accountability
  • Supporting the purchase and disposition of Agency real property.


At Full Performance level, Real Estate Officers administer the real property purchasing program; select vendors and monitor their performance.

Real Estate Officers are expected to be strong self-starters with a proven record of bringing complex tasks to a quick and successful resolution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated federal acquisition experience
  • Flexibility to manage multiple and competing requirements
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and briefing skills
  • Periodic domestic travel as required
  • Project and/or program management experience
  • Strong motivation to continue developing expertise through formal training and on the job experience
  • Good organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet the minimum requirements for joining CIA , including U.S. citizenship and a background investigation


Desired Qualifications

  • Realtor and/or Real Estate Broker license
  • Experience in commercial real estate
  • Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations, specifically experience purchasing land and buildings for the government
  • Federal Property Management Regulations and real estate law
  • Knowledge of the Working Capital Fund
  • Familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulations, General Services Administration Manual
  • Experience working in federal leasing or federal procurement and/or commercial real estate
  • Previous experience in purchasing land and buildings for the Federal Government
