About the Job

As an Inspector General Special Investigator for CIA, you will conduct investigations into allegations of fraud, waste, abuse and wrongdoing involving CIA's personnel, programs, and operations worldwide.

The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is a statutorily independent component of CIA. You will work independently or as a member of a team conducting interviews, gathering evidence, analyzing records and data, preparing reports, and providing testimony in administrative proceedings. You will frequently interact with all levels of CIA employees and contractors and with other law enforcement agencies, Inspectors General, and the Department of Justice. Some travel may be required for official duties.

OIG Special Investigators carry a special position of trust and you will be expected to conduct yourself and your investigations in accordance with standards set forth in the Attorney General Guidelines, the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency, and CIA.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale (may be waived if over three years of federal investigations experience)

• Impeccable integrity, discretion, and ability to work with very sensitive information.
• Ability to utilize critical thinking to resolve potentially challenging situations, problems, and issues.
• Ability to work within a highly structured, but very dynamic environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work under pressure and with short deadlines.
• Ability to evaluate information objectively and approach situations without biases.
• Ability to orally communicate information effectively, exhibiting an executive presence, in briefings and meetings to a variety of audience and/or situations.
• Ability to write detailed, logical, and effective reports, evaluating information concisely and clearly for a variety of audiences.
• Stated willingness to work at locations as deemed necessary and at discretion of management to support OIG mission.
• Stated willingness to travel on short term travel assignments if required.
• Ability to meet the minimum requirements for CIA, including U.S. citizenship and background investigation

Desired Qualifications

• Background in the Intelligence Community
• Background in the Federal Inspector General community
• Investigative or Adjudication experience
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Contracting/Procurement
  • Information Systems
  • Government Financial Systems
  • Familiarity with the Federal disciplinary processes
  • Legal/Paralegal
  • Experience researching Federal laws and regulations
  • Experience conducting formal interviews, collection of pertinent documents and writing reports
  • Analyzing criminal, counterintelligence, or counterespionage information.
