POSITION SUMMARY: The MMUF Graduate Assistant will have program coordinating responsibilities and serve as a key member of the MMUF program at the Claremont Colleges. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean, Student Academic Success, the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program (MMUF) Graduate Assistant works independently and collaboratively to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities: Seminar Logistics Determine seminar day and time based on all student availabilities; make room/catering reservations for all seminar dates. Support with developing syllabus for course. Update and maintain online program sites. Student activities and travel coordination Coordinate all student travel arrangements (including registrations and travel); as well as events such as the annual research presentations, research presentations, and end-of-year banquet. Support grant management Maintain all Fellow, and faculty mentor information current; maintain all documentation of student activities for annual reports. Support to prepare and submit annual MMUF Program report. Summer Orientation Support with coordinating and executing summer orientation for new cohort including making room/catering reservations, developing program agenda, and coordinating all speakers for orientation. Program Recruitment Support with developing recruitment schedule and information sessions at all the 5Cs as well as processing new Program applications. Update and maintain program website as well as work with other 5C fellowship offices to maintain all MMUF information current. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required; candidate should currently be in an advanced degree program in higher education, or student affairs, or a specific academic discipline, or related field. Experience with equity/pipeline programs, liberal arts residential colleges, and/or Claremont Colleges is preferred. The candidate must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job or must be able to demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed (with or without reasonable accommodation) using other knowledge, skills and abilities not listed below. Demonstrate effective, accurate and clear communication with excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, reading, and analytical skills Operate computers with basic Microsoft Office software (such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint), and experience with Tableau or other analytical/assessment software preferred. Handle all activities and highly confidential information with professionalism, patience, discretion, good judgment, courtesy, and tact while working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Prioritize and perform multiple projects/tasks, meet deadlines/timelines, respond to others in a timely manner, and work both independently and as a collaborative member of the College with a high standard of integrity and ethics, in support of the College's strategic vision and the division's/department's annual goals. ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS : Temporary 15 hours per week, Part-time, non-exempt position. The hourly rate for this role is $23.00 to $25.00 per hour. The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include, but not be limited to education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior role. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.
