Bard College at Simon's Rock invites applications for a two-year, full-time sabbatical replacement position in Physics, starting Fall 2024. There is the possibility this visiting faculty position could be extended past the second year. Simon's Rock ( www.simons-rock.edu ) is a small, selective liberal arts college located in scenic Berkshire County, Massachusetts, which serves students ready to begin college after 10th or 11th grade. The College has popular 3/2 B.A/B.S. engineering programs with Columbia University and Dartmouth College. In addition to the College, our faculty contribute to an accelerated high school, Bard Academy, which serves students at the 9th and 10th grade level. We seek faculty passionate about teaching a range of physics courses with an engaged and diverse student population. Teaching load is 3/3. Calculus-based Introductory Physics typically has 25-35 students, upper level physics courses 5-15 students. We are especially interested in applicants with a background and interest in teaching one or more of Earth and Planetary Science, Astronomy, and Robotics, as well as occasional courses in Bard Academy. We also encourage replacement faculty to maintain their research program, with the field of specialization open. Competitive salary and benefits. PhD in Physics or related field preferred; ABD and Masters with teaching experience are also encouraged to apply, especially for someone with an Engineering background.
