Our Network Operations team works around the clock running United’s global operation, safely, reliably and efficiently. From dispatching and routing our fleet to coordinating with maintenance line planning and crew scheduling, this team makes caring connections with our internal customers and ultimately, United’s customers. From pushback to landing, the Network Operations team is the eyes and ears on the ground no matter where in the world your United flight takes you.
Key Responsibilities:
The Network Operations Safety Investigator is responsible for deep dive investigations on non-conformance and non-compliant events including, but not limited to potential regulatory violation(s), failure to follow Company procedure, reported need to modify company policy, interface between manuals and follow-up on revised policies and/ procedures. The Safety Investigator performs audits on various work groups and collaborates with multiple collaborators to ensure the identified mitigation is appropriate. Responsibilities include conducting event investigations, promoting and understanding safety reporting, investigation tracking, recordkeeping, and support for non-compliance and non-conformance events. The Safety Investigator will document all findings and conduct reviews with leadership to include recommendations and standard processes.
- Conduct investigation of reported hazards within Network Operations to determine need for documentation and collaboration with leadership on potential mitigations
- Interface and collaborate with multiple organizations across the enterprise
- Lead cross-divisional teams while conducting investigations and researching potential areas of non-compliance
- Provide comprehensive summary findings from event investigations along with recommended corrective actions, next steps suggestions and residual risk coordination with the safety assurance team
- Assist leadership with mitigation implementation and monitoring of corrective actions
- Brief leadership on identified hazards, progress of mitigation and suggestions for modified mitigations after identified failures in process or procedures

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Undergraduate degree in Aviation related subject area or 5 years’ equivalent work experience
- Compassion for helping process owners and their team with continuous improvement
- Must be knowledgeable in Network Operations functions
- 3 years working for a Part 121 carrier in Network Operations, Flight Operations or Airport Operations
- Related background in event investigations and incidents
- The individual for this role must be a self-starter that can work well under pressure
- Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 121 regulations
- Ability to travel up to 30% including internationally
- Regular business hours but needs to be available periodically to work off hours and potentially travel on weekends
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master’s degree in safety or aviation related field
- Knowledge of and/ experience with 14 CFR Part 5 [Safety Management Systems] regulations
- 2 years in leadership roles
- 1 year as a Part 121 Aircraft Dispatcher, Load Planner, Technical Operations and or Aircraft Router
- Certifications/Qualifications in Aircraft Dispatch, American Society for Quality or IOSA Lead Auditor
- Experience in Dispatch, Load Planning, Station Operations, or Fleet Management
- Previous Risk Management experience
