The Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Human Resources serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer for the University of Illinois Springfield and is responsible for the administration and oversight of all HR services on the UIS campus. Areas of oversight include staffing and employment? employee and labor relations? position classification/ compensation? policy administration? human resource information systems? leave administration? student employment; and training and organizational development. This position is also responsible for establishing short- and long-term goals for campus human resources initiatives. The AVC provides leadership over the delivery of a progressive and innovative HR program that contributes to the attainment of the University's strategic goals and mission. The AVC works closely with the System Senior Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer and their counterparts at the other University of Illinois sister university campuses as well as the University of Illinois Hospital on strategic and policy issues that affect the University of Illinois System as a whole. The AVC connects HR strategy to the university strategy in establishing short-and long-term organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitoring and evaluating programmatic and operational effectiveness; and leading change required to implement best HR practices and achieve continuous business process improvements. The AVC should be a holistic thinker, intentionally shaping and influencing a positive work culture. The AVC will infuse human resources analytics as one of the key variables in management decision-making.
