Junior Specialist - Young lab In vitro and cell culture experimentation: The employee will be expected to apply specific protocols for experimentation, including the performance of in vitro cell culture assays, qRT-PCR, molecular biology cloning, generation of CRISPR gene edited cell lines, and biochemistry. Requisite training and supervision will initially be provided directly by Dr. Vasudevan and other senior laboratory members in anticipation of the employee performing such experiments independently within 1-2 months of joining the research team. In vivo experimentation: Initially under direct supervision and with guidance from Dr. Young and senior lab members, the employee will be expected to perform routine mouse colony maintenance (including breeding animals and genotyping when needed) and experimentation using xenograft and mouse genetic models. Training and supervision will be given to allow the employee to familiarize them mouse protocols, all of which should be able to be performed independently (as a function of prior experience and new training) after 3-4 months in the lab. Responsibilities include data analysis and lab management. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a Life Sciences field, such as Biology, Neuroscience, biochemistry, or related field or with at least four years of research experience. Applicants must have obtained the degree requirement by the time of hire. Knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position.
