Engineering Quality Specialist (Distribution Transformers) - Military Veterans

Within the North American Hub in the Transformers Business Unit, we have a vast product portfolio consisting of Power, Distribution, Dry transformers, alongside components such as bushings and tap changers. For our Engineering function, we are looking for an Engineering Quality Specialist, who will be accountable to thoroughly drive quality excellence within the function across Hub North America. As Engineering Quality Specialist, you will report directly to the Hub North America Engineering Managers and will be located in either one of the production facilities or one of the HUB offices:
Your Responsibilities:
- Establish control mechanisms, such as checkpoints, along with Engineering processes and secure adherence (evaluation of deliverables, process outputs and throughputs).
- Support the development of design tools and continuous improvement ideas through the evaluation of Non-Conformances and Quality Notifications.
- Support the thorough development of DFMEA (training and practical application).
- Identify critical to Quality Engineering deliverables.
- Enhance the review culture, processes and methods.
- Ensure Verification and Validation practices are effective (e.g. Quality Inspection Cards, Envelope of Confidence, test results, etc.)
- Assure Engineering processes are fit for purpose (i.e. deliver the expected output) and secure they are adhered to by all units comprehended in that particular Product Line.
- Promote internal functional assessments and support internal and external audits.

Your Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or correlated relevant discipline and 3 or more years of experience in a Quality Management role in an Engineering environment.
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Previous hands-on experience in an electro-mechanical or related industry in a Quality Engineer or Specialist role
- Expertise on the delivery of effective and accurate problem solving with solid Root Cause Analysis using different methodologies.
- Exposure to processes and methods such as Lean 6 Sigma, etc. and tools such as, Ishikawa, FTA, FMEA, APQP, QFD, etc.
- Conversational with Quality and Engineering international standards such as, but not limited to, ISO 9001, IEEE or IEC.
- Excellent interpersonal & multi-cultural as well as good soft skills (communication, negotiation & influencing), networker, business savvy, result and action oriented, resilient, with fluency in English. Local language skills are a plus.
