The Opportunity

As a dedicated Regulatory Relations Analyst (Mid-Level), you will provide a broad range of strategic and tactical management of regulatory agency relationships. Responsibilities include recurring interactions with regulators, Lines of Business personnel, risk management, and other partners. Objectives include effective regulatory examination outcomes and the coordination and management of relationships with regulatory agencies. The primary focus of this position is the coordination and quality control of the regulatory examination process, including ensuring appropriate levels of examination preparedness and the quality and timeliness of information provided to regulators.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to work to be in the office 4 days per week or work remotely. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Participates in regulatory examination management by providing centralized task management and expertise as set forth by industry best practices.

  • Ensures regulators have appropriate access to USAA resources (GRC tools, applicable policies or procedures) and information required to discharge their supervisory responsibilities with respect to exams.

  • Supports the development and communication of insights on USAA-specific regulatory engagement issues, in addition to broader regulatory industry-wide issues/themes.

  • Participates in central tracking, coordinating of stakeholder responses to questions and information requests received from regulators in accordance with regulatory standards, ensuring timely delivery and escalating when needed.

  • Performs quality assurance on stakeholder responses to what ensuring completeness and accuracy before submitting responses to regulators.

  • Gathers information, analyzes data trends, identifies root cause(s), and provides information to the business or project teams in support of regulatory exams and issues management.

  • Ensures documents, projects, processes or product initiatives comply with regulatory examination requirements and enterprise policy.

  • Serves as a resource to team members on escalated issues of a routine nature.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 4 years experience with regulatory interactions to include interfacing with regulators and risk management policies and frameworks within a financial services organization or insurance industry.

  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of laws and regulations applicable to large financial institutions (e.g. OCC Heightened Standards, FFIEC Handbooks and Guidance).

  • Knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques with demonstrated ability to evaluate regulatory risk and make recommendations.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex analysis and provide insights and recommendations to business, partners, or key stakeholders.

What sets you apart:

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 

  • Strong organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks or change in assignment in a prioritized manner. 

  • US military experience with skills related to one of the following MOS’s: Navy (Legalman LN)), Marines (4402,4405, 4406, 4410, 4430), Army (27A/42H/59A/97A/45A/46A/34A), USAF (1102C1 / 1340-1341 / 1C3X1 / 1D7XX)

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $74,210 - $141,830.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
