The Department of Chemistry seeks applicants for a part-time instructor to teach one section of General Chemistry II Laboratory (CHM 232L). The successful candidate will teach lab as a member of a group of faculties and other full- and part-time faculty and staff. The Canvas learning management system (LMS) is used to provide lab protocols and prepare lecture slides, and it will be available for consistent management and grading across all sections.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Teach weekly section(s) of General Chemistry II Laboratory (CHM 232L), which includes guiding students through pre-lab lectures; assisting students performing experiments; holding weekly office hours (3 hr./wk., can be online); being available by email; and providing timely grading of all written assignments in own section.
Work cooperatively with the other Faculty.
Supervise and mentor work-study lab assistants within their lab section.
Encourage students to complete the lab evaluations at the end of each semester.
Education and Experience
Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field, or M.S. in chemistry with experience. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred.
