What You’ll Do
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in designing, optimizing, and streamlining our manufacturing processes. Your expertise in lean principles, automation, and continuous improvement will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and achieving higher levels of productivity and cost-effectiveness. You will focus on analyzing production requirements, developing efficient workflows, implementing advanced manufacturing technologies, and optimizing machine utilization. You’ll excel at identifying bottlenecks, eliminating waste, and ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently.
About Our Program
Applied Materials’ Manufacturing Engineering Department is searching for a full-time Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join our team in Summer of 2025. This internship will be in a cleanroom environment and will provide you with hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly and modular test. There is the possibility of converting to a full-time employee upon graduation from the degree program.
Role Responsibilities:
Work closely with build and test technicians to identify process improvement opportunities
Execute time studies on the build and test lines
Lead small manufacturing process improvement projects
Develop and update operation method sequences (OMSs)
Support manufacturing engineering with part defect root cause analysis and processing
Minimum Qualifications:
Student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
Student must be in good academic standing, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting and hands-on problem solving
Must be a quick learner and willingness to learn new skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineering experience in development or manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements:
This position may require standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, and the use of hand and power tools.
Additionally, because this position also may involve working in a clean room, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields may be required.
