Food Service Worker - Military Veterans

Job Summary:
This position exists to provide outstanding customer service, to include food preparation, serving at City View Café, Catering. The Café and Catering exist to provide auxiliary services to students, staff and organizations within the community. The food service worker position is responsible for ensuring food is prepared adequately and in a timely manner. Excellent customer service is a priority to each and every person coming into the cafeteria or serviced through our catering. The food service worker is responsible to ensure their area is adequately stocked, prepared and cleaned for service as well to be ready for the next shift. It is expected that the food service worker assists in keeping the food production area, service area, storage rooms, kitchen area and customer dining areas are clean and organized, also to assist with deliveries of products in storage room (checking in the delivery, putting product in proper location using the FIFO method. The food service worker is responsible for making recommendations to management regarding processes, inventory quantities. All employees of Saint Paul College are responsible for promoting a culture that supports diversity and inclusion in all forms as well as providing excellent customer service continuously to all internal and external contacts.

Job Duties:

  • Preparation and Service of food ? baking, making coffee, frying food and tending salad bar, setting up stations and checking for proper serving temperatures, dishing proper portions.
  • Cashiering ? ringing up food, taking cash, checking student balances, making proper change.
  • Set up and deliver catering functions ? set up carts and make deliveries to various meeting ad classrooms around the college.
  • Stocking ? Stocking a variety of food and beverages, condiments and paper products for daily operations.
  • Dishwashing and General Cleaning ? running dish machine and pot sink, putting clean dishes away, cleaning tables, cleaning coolers, work stations, storerooms, walls, equipment and dusting.
  • Assisting Culinary Arts students and Instructors ? Help students locate products and assist in preparation and service of foods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Six (6) months food service work experience.
  • Six (6) months cashiering experience.
  • Superior customer service skills and initiative to deliver the best service possible to students, staff and members of the community.
  • Familiarity with quantity cooking and food preparation methods.
  • Ability to take and follow through with tasks as instructed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to push carts, lift boxes up to 40lbs.
  • Assist with daily and weekly deliveries, stocking and rotating items to insure freshness.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) or more years? experience in food service.
  • Experience with Point of Sales systems, counting money and making change.
  • Knowledge or training in policies and procedures related to food service operations.
  • Experience working food service equipment such as ovens, slicers, fryers, grilles.
  • Experience in catering services.

Monday ? Friday 6:30 A.M. ? 3:00 P.M.
During the Academic Seasonal Months; mid-August to mid-December, and mid-January to mid-May. Occasional Saturdays to assist with Catering.
