As Senior Director, R&D Procurement - Lab Operations & Analytical Testing, you will lead and direct a global procurement organization comprised of resources across 6 countries responsible for more than £450 million of spend and more than 2,000 suppliers at ~10 R&D facilities, and laboratory support of ~80 operations facilities.
- To lead, manage and develop a global team of professional sourcing staff, located in multiple countries.
- To lead, manage and drive improvement and enhancement of ways of working for Scientists with Procurement digital tools and supplier solutions as part of the overall lab experience / lab of future.
- To strategically engage with and understand the business requirements of stakeholders and business partners, to position the Procurement value proposition by providing strategic procurement solutions aligned with the ambition of the company and GSK R&D.
- To collaborate and align with other heads of R&D & global procurement teams to drive resourcing strategies elaboration and deliver business benefits aligned to assurance of supply, quality, service, cost, sustainability, risk and innovation.
- To ensure input to and alignment with the creation of category and sourcing strategies, representing the needs of R&D sites and manufacturing sites (when relevant), in partnership with the other heads of R&D procurement and teams.
- To ensure GSK and GSK Procurement policies, procedures, processes, systems and methodologies are utilized in a compliant manner in the area of responsibility
- To deliver effective budgets (Plans of Purchase) agreed with key stakeholders and Finance in accordance with the Spend Management Framework and aligned to the global R&D budgets together with other heads of R&D procurement and teams.

- Lead and direct a Procurement team made of global & regional sourcing managers across multiple countries responsible for more than £450mio of spend (>1,000 vendors). Including Procurement management of both OPEX and CAPEX expenditure.
- Develop and implement strategies for spend categories in scope (Lab Supply, Lab Equipment, Lab Services & Analytical Services) as well as effective ways of working across R&D locations and manufacturing sites (when relevant) to ensure a cohesive approach and value delivery.
- Build strategic relationship with a network of senior R&D and supply chain (when relevant) stakeholders, to understand business requirements, identify opportunities to create value and to position Procurement's value proposition.
- Lead and enable implementation of category strategies in scope to satisfy in markets needs with the Regional teams
- Build effective budgets (Plans of Purchase) agreed with key stakeholders and Finance in accordance with the Spend Management Framework Support for the categories in scope as well as work with other Heads of R&D procurement in the creation and delivery of their own into the regions.
- Influence key stakeholders and business partners on procurement strategy development, endorse recommend strategies, enable execution and agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted.
- Negotiate, create, execute and manage effective global/regional/local contracts with suppliers that will allow GSK to maximize opportunity via multi-dimensional value creation
- Manage the supply base for the categories within scope through a robust performance management process for both financial & non-financials metrics. Ensure supplier performance is understood and measured.
- Develop and Implement Operational excellence strategies and plans for key global/regional/local suppliers to drive improvements against KPIs.
- Ownership of tail management within the in-scope country and challenge it appropriately to ensure no category spend is left outside category scope.
- Key member of the R&D Procurement leadership team and procurement representative on key R&D governance teams.

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years' experience in procurement strategy creation, deployment, and procurement operations, contract negotiations and management
- Experience leading teams both direct and matrixed
- Experience directing change management in global matrix environment
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Master's degree or MBA
- Institute for Supply Management (ISM) certification
- Proven project and change management leadership
- Complete Market knowledge
- Relationship building skills at all level into the organization
- English proficiency (written and oral)
