Manager, Production Planning - Military Veterans

I. JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Planning & Inventory is accountable to ensure delivery of an effective production
plan and serve as supply plan representative of manufacturing activities over the rolling planning
horizon. It incorporates plans to meet the requirements for all sales organizations, markets, development activities, new product launches and site changes. The Manager must ensure appropriate capacity and resource allocations across the full spectrum of functions from incoming materials to out-bound delivery of product. The role must ensure leadership for the development of appropriate inputs to the longer term supply planning processes necessary to support the S&OP monthly cycle. The role will work with Site Leadership to assess and confirm site throughput capabilities, capacities and issues across all critical functions both for short and long term horizons.

Planning / Strategy:

  • Candidate will be responsible for Management and oversight of all production planning and inventory control activities for the Lansing MI facility in accordance with cGMP regulations.
  • Develop and maintain master production schedule including oversight and adherence to delivery schedule.
  • Facilitate Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) for planning horizon of manufacturing activities and delivery expectations as driven by current demand.
  • Manage /Functional Lead for Production Planning (PP), Production Planning PP-PI and Inventory Management Modules within SAP.
  • Responsible for Long Range Forecasting product requirements & manufacturing activities.
  • Responsible for coordinating and scheduling CMO manufacturing activities in alignment with company master production and budget requirements.

Operations Management:
  • Budget responsibility / accountability for department cost center.
  • Maintain business operation procedures and work instructions (process flow diagrams and instructional guides) for critical production planning activities.
  • Primary liaison for all contract manufacturing activities including scheduling, issue resolution, change implementation, performance monitoring and development, and contract negotiation.
  • Oversee contract manufacturing supplier development activities including manufacturing performance, on-time delivery, quality, improvement initiatives and issue resolution.
  • Responsible for facilitating changes though Emergent's approved change management process.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with manufacturing, quality, validation and facilities maintenance to assure the complete scope of planning activities remains connected with other tangential business operations and compliant with quality requirements.
  • Facilitate/maintain Emergent cycle counting program through SAP.

Human Resource Management / Culture:
  • Participate in management development activities at the Lansing campus.
  • Actively drive communication of expectations and tools with respect to critical business activities, including: job descriptions, performance management (IPMP) plans, career ladder expectations, time and project resource allocation management, operational and capital budget management, and targeted career development through succession planning.
  • Leads culture management and related initiatives.
  • Manages, develops, and empowers staff by building a culture that attracts, sustains and motivates a diverse staff of top quality people devoted to our core values.

Compliance:
  • Provide system oversight for Sarbanes Oxley process controls for Supply Chain Management responsibilities.
  • Supply Chain Management SME for Regulatory inspections for ongoing Manufacturing Operations and PAI submissions.
  • Ensure maximum compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices, USDA, and other areas of mandatory regulatory oversight.

III. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
  • Incumbent must possess at a minimum, a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management or other related field.
  • APICS Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated Supply Chain Management experience.
  • Employment history should show a progressive increase in role of Management responsibility within the Supply Chain Organization.
  • Prior Biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing experience preferred.

U.S. Base Pay Ranges and Benefits Information

The estimated annual base salary as a new hire for this position ranges from $105,500 to $127,700. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. Certain roles are eligible for additional incentive compensation, including merit increases, annual bonus, [and/or long-term incentives in the form of stock options.]
