Job Overview



The Production Supervisor-Machining-3rd Shift will have responsibility over the Machining Manufacturing Operation activities on 3rd Shift, within our Union manufacturing setting at our new Komatsu Manufacturing Facility.

This Role will supervise and coordinate the activities of various production workers (direct / in-direct labor), such as inspectors, precision workers, machine setters and operators, assemblers, and/or fabricators.   Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Will include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.  The Production Supervisor must work safely and be an advocate for all safety activities, driving a culture of Zero Harm.

 

Schedule: 10:30pm-7:30am Sunday-Thursday 



Key Job Responsibilities





  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments and production sequences to meet production goals.


  • Provide direction, development and leadership to shop personnel.


  • Enforce safety, process and regulations.   Maintain safe working conditions and practices in the unit.   Comply with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.


  • Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, production schedules and other records and reports to determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates and outputs.


  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.


  • May inspect materials, products or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.


  • Demonstrates equipment operations, work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training.


  • May observe work and monitor gauges, dials and other indicators to ensure operators conform to production or processing standards.


  • Work with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.


  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, job orders and company policies and procedures for workers.


  • Coordinate employee work schedule and work order assignments.


  • Monitors performance for production and quality standards in compliance with work orders.


  • Balance time sheets and review labor metrics for daily performance.


  • Prepare and maintain departmental reports, such as service reports, injury reports, etc.


  • Maintains equipment and supplies, arranges replacements or equipment repair as needed.


  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish company goals and objectives.


  • Promotes shop floor organization and cleanliness among personnel.




Qualifications/Requirements





  • High School Diploma required, (technical degree or above is preferred); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; (or equivalent).


  • Previous Manufacturing Supervision experience in Machining is a strong preference.


  • Prior Union Supervision or Union experience would be a plus.


  • Experience with Root Cause Investigations is beneficial.


  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.


  • Prior experience with Lifting / Rigging is preferred.


  • Proficient computer skills, ERP understanding is a large plus.


  • Ability and want to work on 3rd Shift.




Additional Information





  • All supervisors participate in a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.


  • Straight time overtime pays after 45 hours per week.


  • Annual Bonus of up to 5% of Salary (dependent on performance of individual and company).

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization.  We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.  In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites.  We have approximately 1,200 employees.
