Senior Director, General Pediatrics - Military Veterans

Under the general supervision of the VP and Chief Ambulatory Officer, the Senior Director of General Pediatrics, in collaboration with the ACMO of Population Health and Primary Care, Division Chief of Community Pediatrics, and Division Chief of General Academic Pediatrics, maintains clinical and operational responsibility for the continuum of the service line. This includes General Academic Pediatrics, the division of Community Primary Care, school-based health, Kids Express integration into primary care, and others as directed. With the expansion of primary care, the service line currently represents over sixty team members and fifty providers. The Senior Director also works collaboratively with key leaders on the integration of acquired and affiliated community primary care practices. The Senior Director coordinates these operations with other service lines or divisions to achieve the strategic priorities set forth in Dayton Children’s Strategic Plan. The Senior Director serves as the lead for the primary care strategic priority in collaboration with executive sponsor and physician leadership. The Senior Director is responsible for planning and operational activities related to the development, implementation, and ongoing leadership of the Service Line. The Senior director partners with ACMO and chiefs on establishing benchmarkable key performance indicators and leads the general pediatrics operations team in successfully meeting these goals.
The Senior Director in conjunction with the Population Health and Primary Care ACMO is responsible for the development and attainment of the organizational mission, program development, short- and long-term goals, operational goals and objectives identified for the service line and related departments. The Senior Director is responsible for directing patient care efforts through the clinical and administrative staff. The Senior Director and ACMO are responsible for development and implementation of plan(s) for department staffing, program development, directing and monitoring service line operations, quality improvement programs, and sound fiscal management of the operations.
The Senior Director of General Pediatrics is accountable to an annual service line budget of $40M The Senior Director is responsible for all capital projects related to the Service Line and serves as the lead administrator for the Service Line in identifying, executing, and maintaining opportunities to transform and integrate business unit/corporate structures and cultures.
The Senior Director leads an administrative team that represents one operations manager and three ambulatory managers. Future state will include a minimum of six supervisors reporting to the ambulatory managers within this operational structure. The management structure providers leadership to over 60 employees, which will expand in scope as Dayton Children’s primary care network continues to grow. This individual will provide leadership support, direction, and administrative guidance in the development, improvement, and maintenance of Service Line by leading a culture of engagement that results in outstanding programs and services, quality, patient safety, patient experience standardization/adherence to best practices, operational efficiency, and continuous process improvement. The Senior Director demonstrates competence in strategy implementation, quality, financial responsibility, quality of work life, and customer service, and will work collaboratively with other system service line leadership and peer operational colleagues to develop, implement, and sustain clinical programs and services that contribute to a comprehensive portfolio of healthcare services to our children.
Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited program required. MBA preferred
Experience
7-10 years of healthcare management experience required
8-12 years specializing in ambulatory pediatrics and management experience preferred
Servant Leadership, positive attitude, ability to interact with all levels of the organization, ability to challenge and question with tact required
Computer skills including Word, Excel and EMR required
Certifications
CMPE Certification preferred
PCMH Certification preferred
