Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Sterile Processing Supervisor, you will work under the direction of the Sterile Processing Manager, and you will be responsible for the daily operations and workflow of the department. Here is some of what you can expect from being a Sterile Processing Supervisor with us: 

• You will perform duties independently, work proficiently without supervision and serve as a resource for all aspects of sterilization processing of surgical instrumentation.  
• You will perform in the role, monitor others in the department, and are responsible for assuring work completion and standard/best practice compliance.  
• You will bring your advanced knowledge and skills regarding instrumentation, equipment, and supply needs for all types of surgical procedures.  
• You will help develop staff, including staff evaluations and education.  
• You will serve as a customer service specialist or liaison with OR staff, surgeons, and other departments to resolve issues and enhance service.  
• You will review the daily OR schedule to ensure instrument availability, coordinate vendor instrumentation, and plan needed turnovers to complete the schedule without delay.   

What qualifications you will need: 

• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is preferred.  
• Central Sterile certification (ISCHSMM or CBSPD) or obtained within one (1) year of being hired is required.  
• Vocational/Technical or associate's degree preferred.  
• Three (3) years of Sterile Processing/Central Sterile Technician/OR Technologist work experience.  
• Competency in orthopedics, cardiovascular, neuro, and GYN preferred.  
• One (1) year minimum of supervisory/lead tech experience.
