Animal Care Technician - Military Veterans

Job Summary:
Provides animal care service for a rodent vivarium whose focus is animal welfare. This position feeds animals and maintains animal quarters, records, and supplies to ensure compliance with animal care regulations and in support of research and instruction. Our ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have good communication skills.

Responsibilities: Feeds animals and maintains animal quarters, records, and supplies to ensure compliance with animal care regulations and in support of research and instruction.

  • 10% Inventories, cleans, and maintains organization of animal holding spaces and supplies
  • 15% Assists with preparing food and formulas and feeds animals according to established schedules and specifications
  • 5% Inspects and reports equipment problems to ensure optimal and safe operation
  • 10% Maintains organization of and updates records related to research procedures
  • 60% Observes animal behavior, performs basic animal care, and reports concerns to the appropriate entities to contribute to the health and well-being of animals to support research and teaching

Qualifications:
Experience working in a rodent vivarium is preferred.
Work Schedule:
Daytime hours, will work some weekends. Typically work within the facility takes place between 7AM and 3PM on the weekdays. Although there is some flexibility with the schedule, work typically begins between 7AM and 9AM and ends sometime between 12PM and 2PM. Weekend work is typically 3-4 hours in the morning.

Full or Part Time: 60% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $20.00 HOURLY
