Description

Under general supervision, provides highly skilled technical knowledge and guidance for designated maintenance groups at assigned sites. Makes repairs, troubleshoots, diagnoses problems, mentors, conducts routine maintenance and installs equipment as required.

  • Assist in the development and training of employees in the mobile equipment maintenance areas.
  • Leads diagnostics and repair of diesel, hydraulic, drive trains, air conditioning systems, low-voltage electrical, and pneumatic equipment as well as other support equipment.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation for scheduling jobs. Creates work orders, warehouse purchase requisitions, and performs work area inspections.
  • Assist site management by actively participation in safety programs including behavioral audits, JSA’s, SOP’s, Near Miss Reporting, and other programs determined by management.
  • Assist management in complying with company policies and procedures and environmental compliance.
  • Make sound operating and maintenance decisions based on best business practices.
  • Assists in the development of department operating, maintenance, and capital budgets.
  • Assists with development and review of SOPs and work procedures. Audits mobile fleet and makes recommendations for repairs and upgrades.
  • Serves as a member on the selection panel for Certified Diagnostic Mechanics.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Six (6) years of relevant experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist, or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • HEM Certified Diagnostic Mechanic: Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP; Completed 39 courses or tested out in HEM FLEX.
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.
  • Ability to mentor new employees in mechanical maintenance and safety
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, drive trains, pneumatic, low-voltage electrical, and AC systems
  • Ability to work with customers and external departments to find solutions
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to high volume, changing priorities and potentially stressful deadlines.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Posses knowledge skills and abilities as applicable to specific electrical and mechanical systems as it relates to heavy and support equipment maintenance.

 

Criteria/Conditions:

  • Perform work in a safety sensitive work environment.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $35.00 - $47.50/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.   • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
