Project Designer III - Pre-Sales Design - Global Design Team - Military Veterans

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results driven and forward-thinking Project Designer to join our amazing culture.

As a security Project Designer III you will provide security engineering and design support within Convergint with a focus on a Strategic Sales Initiative. The role has responsibility for three key functions (1) developing customer and sub-vertical specific security standards, templates, design guides that enable our CTCs (Convergint Technology Centers - branches) and our design teams (2) provide pre-sales design support as well as consultative design services to our sales teams and (3) oversee and support the delivery of the highest levels of production (drawing and design) from our design engineering team. The position will be responsible for all security design engineering and design standards for the Strategic Sales Initiative the colleague is supporting. The role will interface with business development teams, account executives, project designers and project managers.

  • Carries out in-depth analysis of plans, functional specifications and contracts in order to determine and advise on overall project requirements; supports a wide variety of project aspects including estimating, design, planning, design engineering.
  • Provides electronic security consultative and system design services including onsite security assessment and analysis of customer facilities when appropriate to develop security applications and standards.
  • Provides input on and reviews security standards, shop drawings and wiring diagrams, based on customer site assessments, regulatory reviews, project plans and specifications, showing location of devices, equipment, and wiring etc.
  • Creates and documents customer specific security standards, design guides, templates and folders in order to facilitate the design engineering of projects for customers and in order to enable our CTCs and our regional design teams.
  • Advises Project Manager regarding appropriate products needed for installation, identifying any items which have longer lead times, and works with our vendors / partners on an ongoing basis to ensure best support and from them for our customers and projects.
  • Always acts as "our customer's best service provider" thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer's first choice for service.
  • May provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and support the execution of systems audits and consultation, and/or database management and manipulation.
  • Prepares and/or reviews formal submittal booklets, containing schematics, and technical literature as necessary to support each contract. May be required to perform other Project Manager duties as needed.
  • Acts as a technical resource and support to sales executives including attending presentations to the customer and pre booking meetings.
  • Using technical knowledge, skills and experience, acts as mentor and provides training for less experienced staff. Provides performance feedback to management regarding project designers. Transfers knowledge and expertise to other colleagues.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.


What You'll Need
  • Advanced technical skills and knowledge/expertise in AutoDesk Design Review and Bluebeam.
  • Strong skills in reading and understanding construction drawings, architectural and electrical layouts and diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and components.
  • Excellent Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent Bluebeam skills
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written.
  • Experienced with AutoCAD
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to problem solve and be proactive with tasks.
  • Customer Focus - Maintaining awareness of and seeking to meet the needs and wants of the customer.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of five years of previous design, engineering, field service or project management experience in the electronic security industry

Minimum of 5 years' experience in electronic security industry
