Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a Quality Technician 2nd shift 3PM-11:30PM to join our Howmet Casting located in Dover, New Jersey.

JOB SUMMARY
This position supports quality, engineering, manufacturing, and procurement by monitoring supplier quality performance and assuring compliance with requirements.
This position is also responsible for performing activities within the Manufacturing Data Management (MDM) group to maintain an up-to-date circulation of work instructions.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace's EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles;
- Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment;
- Report all job-related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook);
- Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner;
- Attend all EH&S training.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions
- Ensure proper flow down of quality requirements to both internal and external sub-tier suppliers (via Purchase Order standard remarks or Core/Wax/Outplant Release Sheets)
- Maintain the Standard Remarks Log. This will include working with process owners to determine new / revised requirements.
- Ensure suppliers are approved per the Howmet Approved Supplier List
- Inspect incoming supplier material and certificates to ensure conformance to Purchase Order, Business Operation Procedures, and Specifications.
- Communicate with the Supplier, Procurement, and / or BU Supplier Quality to resolve any discrepancies or quality issues.
- Prevent counterfeit parts and control any product suspected to be counterfeit.
- Process, log, and distribute Supplier Nonconformance Reports (SNCRs) and Supplier Discrepancy Action Requests (SDARs)
- Monitor metrics related to Supplier PPM (SNCRs & SDARs), as well as material testing (on-time results).
- Coordinate periodic raw material testing for any materials that come in contact with parts during the manufacturing process. Obtain samples, submit to the lab, and verify test results conform. Maintain the Material Testing Log. Ensure testing is conducted on time per required testing frequency.
- Perform Manufacturing Data Management (MDM) functions including Teamcenter Admin and Teamcenter WISPA roles:
- Perform all computer inputting necessary to create, update, and route work instructions. Ensure completeness. Interact with Engineering and Manufacturing personnel to ensure accuracy and completeness of documents.
- Issue temporary PCs as needed.
- Electronically manage, route, and disposition external documents.
- Provide suppliers with required documents.
- Run BOM previews for Customer Purchase Orders and electronically route to reviewers.
- Record storage
- Additional MDM duties as required.
- Undergo training and become a qualified internal auditor. Conduct audits to assure processes and systems are in control and meet the requirements of AS9100.
- Understand and interpret product criteria, activity instructions, and business operating procedures. Participate in product criteria and activity instruction revisions to verify product and processes meet customer and quality requirements.
- Assist with Quality Systems duties as required.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Other Skills/Abilities
- Organization and the ability to achieve and maintain a high level of typing.
- Ability to use online portals / software required for the role, including but not limited to Oracle, Teamcenter, and ETQ.
- This job has frequent internal contact with management, manufacturing, procurement, sales and engineering. External contact includes frequent communication with suppliers. Strong communication skills are needed for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution;
- No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Candidates residing within a 50 miles radius of Dover NJ will only be considered.
- Quality Technician experience
- 2-year Associates Degree or equivalent related experience.
- Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System standard.
- Experience with different quality tools utilized for root cause corrective action problem solving.
- Proficient computer skills, including word processing and email as well as the basic use of Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to Attain Information - Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
- Inspecting Material - Inspecting materials to identify the cause of errors, nonconformances, or other problems / defects. Evaluate quality of materials or products.
- Experience reading Purchase Orders, Specifications, and Instructions to determine product criteria or material requirements.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
- Flexibility to working in different work areas / locations throughout the plant.
- Sitting and monitoring a computer screen for extended periods of time when inputting work instructions.
