Lockheed Martin Space is seeking Summer 2025 Optical Engineering Intern. In this role, you will work with a team on a variety of optical engineering related tasks such as optical design and analysis as well as hands-on optical hardware testing and alignment. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of optical design and analysis, work optical laboratory operations, and optical CAD (Code V, Zemax, or OSLO). Must be a US Citizen.
Basic Qualifications:
Pursuing a degree in one of the following:
Optical Science
Optical Engineering
Optical Science and Engineering
Physics (with a major emphasis in the field of Optics)

Basic knowledge of geometrical optics
Working knowledge of optical laboratory setups and operations
Basic knowledge of optical design
Must have the ability to obtain a security clearance
Must be a US Citizen
Desired Skills:
Demonstrated ability using optical CAD (i.e. Code V, ZEMAX)
Basic knowledge of MATLAB or other programming software
Basic knowledge of stray light

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $20,904 - $61,672. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
