Position Number: 010591 Department: Facilities Management (Adm) Employment Type: Permanent - Full-time Months Per Year: 12 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to: Cabinetmaking, Carpentry, Locksmith, Masonry, Painting, Plastering, and Roofing perform a variety of tasks ranging from routine and unskilled to highly skilled. Apply methods and general procedures of applicable trades/maintenance techniques and develop skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment appropriate to trade. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components requiring the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and knowledge of and adherence to safety policies and regulations. Position may serve as lead technician and/or crew leader, directing the work of others. Measure materials or distances, using a square, measuring tape, or ruler to lay out work. Identify fire extinguishers that need replacement. Minimum Experience / Education: Required Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. University Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Education Skills and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of experience. Ability to follow applicable building codes. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension). Computer knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork with co-workers, visitors, building occupants, and the entire campus community. A valid driver's license is required. The FM Tech Mechanical Trades operates assigned vehicles on and/or off-campus and is required to possess, maintain, or obtain a valid driver's license upon appointment to the position.
