The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Emergency Medicine, is seeking a full-time faculty member at the Associate Professor rank to serve as Ultrasound Director. Responsibilities include ultrasound operations, quality oversight, medical student and resident education, participation in our EM Ultrasound Fellowship Program, and participation in scholarly activity. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent upon qualifications. The University of Chicago Emergency Medicine residency program, established in 1972, has a rich history as one of the oldest emergency medicine programs in the country. The appointee will join an academic faculty who are active in research, medical education, simulation, international medicine, EMS/prehospital medicine and air-medical transport. The University of Chicago Medicine is a STEMI receiving hospital, a comprehensive Stroke Center, a Burn Center,an Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center,and one of the Chicago South EMS regional resource hospitals. The Adult ED has an annual volume of over 65,000 patients and our Pediatric ED has a volume of 30,000 patients per year. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine, and 4) beultrasound fellowship trained.
