at Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM)
Job Summary: Responsible for the overall administration and operation of the Photo Lab including sales profits merchandise and control of equipment product development records reports and security of cash. Duties and Responsibilities: Ensures that established sales and profit goals are achieved through sound management and creative promotional actions. - Responsible for the preparation of department operating budgets exercising fiscal restraints and initiating planning of new and required programs. - Develops and maintains procurement sources items and price lines for merchandise supplies and services to ensure patrons will be able to purchase services and products at the lowest practical cost. - Supervises and directs subordinates. Performs personnel administration duties such as interviewing prospective employees evaluating the work performance of subordinate personnel recommending approval or disapproval of leave taking appropriate disciplinary actions recommending personnel actions etc. Plans schedules and coordinates work operations assures subordinates meet established work standards. - Ensures effective security measures for equipment custody of spaces and prevention of pilferage. Takes necessary steps to assure economical use and protection of supplies equipment and cash. Maintains records and reports as required takes inventory at required intervals. - Develops short and long range facility improvements and equipment replacement projects with Services Manager and Facilities Manager. - Works closely with location IT department to ensure proper PII policies are in place. - Continually monitors applicable contracts to ensure compliance by vendors. Reports any discrepancies to Services Manager. Serves as an ACOR. - Maintains current knowledge of the photographic industry including operational procedures industry trends equipment and techniques is alert for and makes recommendations for additional income producing products and services. - Maintains quality control of services rendered and products sold. Works with local accounting department to ensure profit margins and inventory controls are maintained. Responsible for ensuring proper cash control and maintenance of cash receipts. - Oversees effective operation of remote Photo Studio location. Maintains pricing and promotions to incur incremental sales. - Liaison with Recruit Training Command to coordinate scheduling and execution of photo lab services rendered. - Coordinates with Visual Merchandising department to ensure complex signage and installation are produced in a cost effective manner. - Works under the direction of the Services Operations Manager. Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
GENERAL EXPERIENCE 3 years experience in technical or retail operations work or other responsible work that enabled the applicant to gain knowledge of operational practices skill in dealing with others and the ability to exercise mature judgment. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE 1 year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor s degree for 3 years of general experience or 6 months of technical or vocational training may be substituted for each year of experience to a maximum of 4 years. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE 1 year of responsible experience that provided a background in the techniques and methods of photo-finishing merchandising of services and maintenance of equipment or similar work which demonstrated the knowledge and abilities to manage a service area.

- Telecommunications Program Office (TPO)
With the exception of the Ships Store Program, the NEXCOM Enterprise conducts its operations as a federal non-appropriated funded instrumentality. As such, the command is self-supporting with 70 percent of its profits given to Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs and the remaining 30 percent reinvested in NEX buildings and equipment.
NEXCOM is a military organization and is subject to congressional legislation as well as oversight from the Department of the Navy. NEXCOM’s parent command is the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP).
