About the School of Information Technology   The School of Information Technology is a national leader in studying solutions and needs that connect people, information, and the technology of the time. The SoIT (School of Information Technology) is home to Ohio's first Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Information Technology. In addition, it is home to Ohio's first ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity. The SoIT has been growing at 20% annually and currently serves more than 2,000 students with 35 full-time faculty members, 35 full-time staff, and 30 adjunct faculty. The SoIT is home to several centers including an NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, the Information Technology Solutions Center, the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence Center, and the Smart Synergies Lab.   The SoIT is a diverse, interdisciplinary, team-oriented, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environment. More information about the school can be found at http://cech.uc.edu/it .     Job Overview The School of Information Technology at the University of Cincinnati seeks to hire a Research Associate who will have lead developer responsibilities with the Information Technology Solutions Center. Essential Functions Lead developer responsibilities will include to: Architect software solutions for clients, utilizing various architectural approaches such as client-server, distributed, or microservices architecture, depending on project needs. Architect and develop software ecosystems that include multiple components such as APIs and backend, client interface, and frontend or mobile applications. Develop software applications to serve clients? needs, in particular those in the criminal justice or retail sectors including government agencies and private or public companies with whom the ITSC collaborates. Lead teams of software developers working with Node.JS, React.JS, database management systems. Mentor student software developers. Lead daily standup meetings to ensure team alignment. Review and approve code submitted by software developers to maintain quality standards. Lead agile project management sprint meetings. Maintain application software repositories on Git. Develop and administer continuous integration pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions. Deploy and administer applications on Linux and Windows, and potentially Docker, platforms.   In addition to the lead developer responsibilities, the Research Associate will: Research and implement best practices in the software development process. Present and publish in related conferences and journals as needed. Teach at least one course at the undergraduate or graduate levels in subjects related to software development.   Minimum Requirements All of the following are required prior to start date:   Bachelor?s degree in Information Technology or related field from an ABET accredited program with coursework in Software Application Development and a minimum GPA of 3.6 AND Master?s degree in Information Technology or related field with a minimum GPA of 3.6.   Two years of experience including all of the following: Software development with Node.JS and React.JS. Developing software for the criminal justice sector. Structured query language with enterprise database management systems such as PostgreSQL. Administering software applications on Linux and Windows platforms including tools such as Docker and Git. Designing software applications.
