CESR Operator CESR Operator Systems Operator I - Band D Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based ScienceS and Education (CLASSE) Who We Are The Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based ScienceS and Education (CLASSE) studies particle beams and accelerators, photon science, particle physics and the early universe, and serves students, the public and scientists from Cornell and around the world. The research missions of this laboratory are in many respects unique in the world. Summary of position responsibilities Operation of a particle accelerator: following standard procedures for the turnon/turnoff of radiation equipment. Being aware of common alarms, and troubleshooting when equipment fails or behaves in a non-standard manner. Operate electronic test equipment (for example oscilloscopes, spectrum evaluators, and signal generators) and have the aptitude to diagnose problems with sophisticated experimental equipment. As the facility performs 24/7, this position requires shift and weekend work. Recognized as essential personnel during inclement weather.
