Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus in our Field Engineering department as a Lead Relay Field Technician. The Lead Relay Field Technician calibrates, installs, maintains, and repairs protective relays and associated equipment to ensure the efficient, safe, reliable operation of the electric grid. They will be required to maintain, install, repair, and troubleshoot complex control systems, protective relay systems (microprocessor and electro-mechanical); substation and electric utility protection systems; station automation and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. This position is based out of our 1200 Summit Avenue Suite 340, Fort Worth, TX, 76102 location.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field service and technical assistance to customers in areas of acceptance testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of low, medium, and high voltage systems, substation design including protection and control engineering, substation construction and commissioning, SCADA Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing and/or power distribution equipment
  • Read and properly interpret electrical drawings (e.g., single line drawings, AC and DC schematics, panel wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings
  • Write procedures and/or test plans in support of maintenance and construction activities
  • Perform routine troubleshooting and repair of apparatus, relaying and control equipment
  • Ensure proper process and adherence to all company, industry, and client safety protocol and standards as it relates to job preparation and execution
  • Plan, schedule, and complete test activities efficiently, on time, without service interruptions
  • Review technicians field time reports and job documentation to ensure accuracy for jobs as assigned
  • Support in identifying and securing equipment and manpower needs for shop/field
  • Provide Project Technical Support to Field Service personnel
  • Provide technical insight to sales team as needed
  • Duties require traveling to unanticipated clients' worksites throughout continental United States on an average of every week from Monday morning to Thursday evening. Telecommuting on non-traveling days permitted.
Qualifications
  • High School or GED Diploma; foreign degree equivalency accepted
  • 36 Months experience in the job or as Field Service Protection and Control and High Voltage Apparatus Commissioning Technician
  • Proficient in SCADA software
