Position Specific Description

The selected candidate for this role will be responsible for the following:

•Planning and Strategy - Developing plans and strategies for vegetation management, including pruning, clearing, and maintenance, to ensure safety, and regulatory compliance are met.

•Reliability support - Works to ensure outages are investigated. Ensure proper patrols are done and documentation is collected. Coordinates closely with electrical repair crews for safe and rapid grounding, line clearing and restoration efforts. Helps oversee high impact outage events and major storms.

•Team Management - Leading a team of field workers, arborists, and technicians involved in vegetation management tasks.

•Budget Management - Managing budgets for vegetation management projects, ensuring cost-effective requirements for safe production.

•Environmental Considerations - Assessing and minimizing the environmental impact of vegetation management practices, including adhering to conservation and sustainability principles.

•Resource Management: Overseeing the deployment of the required amount of equipment, materials and personnel needed for efficient resource allocation.

•Client and Stakeholder Communication: Liaising with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to provide updates on progress, address concerns, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

•Work Execution - Ensure Arborists are completing audits and inspections in adherence to federal and state regulatory compliance and may from time to time directly oversee line clearing activities.

•Record Keeping and Reporting - Maintaining records of vegetation management activities, including work performed, expenses, and compliance documentation.

•Innovation and Technology - Keeping abreast of industry trends and implement new technologies to improve the efficiencies of safe, productive vegetation management operations.

•Support and growth - Develop talent and motivate reports to grow and learn in the required competencies.

Job Overview

Employees in this position oversee the implementation of business unit vegetation management. This position ensures compliance with all laws and regulations. Employees is in this position develop action plans to improve inspection and work performance and quality. Employees in this role drive reliability improvements, increase customer experience and satisfaction and ensure work execution within established guidelines and budgets. Employees respond to elevated customer concerns and make decisions with impact to company brand. Employees in this role respond to customer outages during regular weather and natural disasters.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Audits inspections to ensure federal and state regulatory compliance and directly oversees line clearing activities for the regulated utility as well as NEER and NEET assests
  • Coordinates closely with Distribution Control Center (power systems operations) and electrical repair crews for safe and rapid grounding, line clearing and restoration efforts
  • Works with and coordinates with elected officials and government leadership to advocate for legislation and programs which enable customers to plant trees away from power lines
  • Oversees day-to-day operations for a large workfoce including budgetary approvals and process compliance activities
  • Resolves customer complaints and inquires promptly and supports legal requests
  • Coordinates with engineering teams to ensure proper clearances and vegetation clearing techniques during pre-construction activities for major work
  • Promotes safety consciousness and adherence to OSHA and company safety requirements to achieve an injury free work environment and motivates and develops employees
  • Ensures the inspection of all work performed is in accordance with contract scope and specifications
  • Designs, schedules, approves, and oversees work scope for all hardening, preventative maintenance, customer trim requests and capital scope work
  • Supports reactive work including: regularly occuring outages, high impact outage events, major storm restoration and out of area travel
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 5+ years
  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
  • ISA Certified Arborist

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: 7+ years
  • Leadership Experience: 5+ years
  • ISA Certif Arborist Utility Specialist
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
