Laboratory Technician I Title: Laboratory Technician I Location: Upper East Side Org Unit: Finance and Research Accounting Work Days: Weekly Hours: 35.00 Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range: $26.20 - $29.34 *As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when Hired for NYC Offices Position Summary Under direction, is responsible for the collection, processing, and transportation of clinical samples and data entry within research and clinical settings. This role also assists in coordination of special research project requests. Job Responsibilities Interfaces and coordinates with one or more clinics for specimen pickup from collection sites and drop-off at processing site. Follows up with research teams on day of collections. Transports and delivers research biospecimens in appropriate manner. Assists and facilitates material distribution as needed. Updates various databases and accurately records patient and specimen material pick-up/drop-off related information. Collects and processes patient specimens and samples. Provides assistance to clinical and research staff regarding sample transport protocols. Communicates with other members of the department regarding study data and specimens or scheduling with clinicians. Maintains inventory of laboratory supplies onsite and re-orders as needed. Responsible for multidisciplinary coordination with core services & biobanking for the processing and storage of samples. Performs other related duties as assigned. Education Associate's Degree in Clinical science or related science field. Experience Bachelors in biology or clinical science, or related science field, is preferred. Approximately 1-2 years of experience in a clinical/research setting. Must have experience with sample processing. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral). Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to multitask and keep track of what responsibilities are required per study. Licenses and Certifications Working Conditions/Physical Demands Standard laboratory space; Must be able to spend a large part of the day standing up and moving around; This role will require travel between multiple locations across NYC either by mass transit, foot, or taxi-cab.
