The Opportunity

The Design Engineer position provides complete engineering information and solutions to Project Management, Estimating and Manufacturing in support of pricing and the manufacture of Permanent Point of Purchase Displays.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

• Apply engineering principles to the design, development, or modification of permanent displays to create engineering solutions using information obtained from the Engineering Manager, creative and/or sales team
• Provide information to internal and external customers, as needed , including but not limited to drawings, bill of materials, die lines, vacuum form pattern models, eDrawings, assembly instructions, vendor information, and complete hardware specifications
• Provide technical support for all items in the production process
• Maintain engineering documentation, including documentation detailing parts and services required to manufacture displays, and for complex multiple material prototypes
• Specify vendors to be used, specifications, and ordering information for all components
• Maintain and update work schedule in real time
• Establish communication between company and vendors
• Perform reverse engineering on components in order to competitively price and manufacture displays
• Other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed:

• Minimum a 2-year Associates Degree; a 4-year bachelor's Degree including Industrial Design or Engineering is preferred.
• Strong grasp of design and engineering principles and a strong understanding of the manufacturing process
• Strong and creative problem-solving skills as well as good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
