Desktop Engineer - Military Veterans

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in desktop support or a similar IT role.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with basic networking concepts and troubleshooting.
  • Security+ certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to provide occasional after-hours support as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 40 pounds.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with remote desktop support tools.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Familiarity with IT service management tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Basic scripting skills in PowerShell, batch files, or similar.
  • Experience working in a government or intelligence community environment is a plus.

Clearance Requirements

 

  • Active TS/SCI clearance required and eligibility to obtain a CI poly

What will you be doing?

As a Desktop Engineer, you will play a critical role in providing technical support to end-users, maintaining desktop systems, and ensuring reliable operation across computer systems. Your expertise will be pivotal in resolving issues, managing user accounts, and supporting desktop environments both on-site and remotely. You will contribute to maintaining a secure and efficient computing environment for our intelligence customer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct support for desktop systems by troubleshooting hardware and software issues promptly and effectively.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights to ensure proper system access and security.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop operating systems and applications. Perform regular system maintenance and updates to optimize performance and security.
  • Respond to and resolve user tickets in a timely and professional manner, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Assist with the deployment of new technologies and software, including setup and configuration.
  • Document technical solutions and maintain a knowledge base for common issues to facilitate quicker resolutions.
  • Work with other IT teams to address complex issues and enhance overall service delivery.
  • Provide basic network troubleshooting and support as required.
  • Conduct user training sessions on new software or hardware to ensure effective utilization.
