Job Overview



This is an onsite-hybrid position located in Franklin, PA.

The CAD Designer works within the Electrification Center of Excellence supporting the Engineering Design Team.



Key Job Responsibilities





  • Supports engineering projects involving the development, maintenance, and support of components, products and/or services per market demand, as well as for continuous process improvements.


  • Designs and details mechanical components and electrical schematics for electrical systems using AutoCAD/Inventor, for both product support and new product development


  • Modifies existing layouts to change for new requirements and design modifications


  • Performs engineering evaluations including investigations, basic calculations and tests that have well defined requirements and desired outcomes.


  • Participates in learning and development opportunities, both inside and outside of the organization, to benefit oneself and the overall organization.


  • Works as part of a team, under the direction of an Engineer or Designer, to complete work on-time meeting specifications.


  • Under the direction of an Engineer or Designer, engages in effective communication of engineering issues to ensure compliance with global standards and engineering best practices.


  • Participates in and supports improvements to streamline engineering processes used to design, develop, maintain, and support components, products, and/or services.


  • Perform product support tasks with cross-functional business partners in Sales, Service, Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality.




Qualifications/Requirements





  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Design Technology required


  • 1-3 years of experience


  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Inventor


  • Working knowledge of CAD/PDM software and design principles & practices


  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety in product design, serviceability and manufacturability.


  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a goal


  • Previous experience participating in implementing Lean principles desired


  • Previous experience participating in effective Change Management implementation desired.


  • Excellent organization and time management skills, and ability to multi-task

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization.  We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.  In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites.  We have approximately 1,200 employees.
