Assistant Teaching Professor and Director ESTEEM Graduate Program Location: South Bend, IN Open Date: Sep 24, 2024 Deadline: Nov 30, 2024 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description: The ESTEEM Graduate Program at the University of Notre Dame is accepting applications for an assistant teaching professor, which is expected to be filled this year. The position's working title will be Assistant Teaching Professor and Director of ESTEEM Academic Curriculum; Capstone Advisor. The ESTEEM Graduate Program is an 11-month entrepreneurship program that offers a Master's of Science. The core faculty responsibilities will include, Capstone Project/Masters Thesis, Curriculum, and Teaching. The teaching load in the ESTEEM Graduate Program is competitive. Primary responsibilities as Assistant Teaching Professor represent 75% of effort and include the following: Teach a minimum of 2-3 classes per year in ESTEEM, including the Capstone Project/Masters Thesis Class over the course of three terms (summer, fall and spring). Serve as Capstone Faculty Advisors for approximately 20 students per year. Hold faculty office hours throughout the one-year ESTEEM term Coach and advise multiple students with regard to their side-hustle/McCloskey/Pre-A start up ideas as well as with career planning and desired placement objectives post-ESTEEM Secondary responsibilities as Director, ESTEEM Academic Curriculum, represent 25% of effort and include the following: Lead the design, accreditation, execution, experimentation and on-going monitoring and review of all in-class curriculum (including workshops) for the ESTEEM Graduate Program. Lead in the design and experimentation of new core and elective courses, including additional startup and entrepreneurial content, while staying true to the original vision/mission of the ESTEEM Graduate Program. Work with Notre Dame Learning -- which includes the the Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence (KCTE); the Office of Digital Learning (ODL); and OIT's Teaching and Learning Technologies Group -- to help ensure that ESTEEM is creating a strategy around digital learning opportunities for its students; design and implement new digital curricular programming opportunities over the course of the next 2-3 years. Work with the Assistant Provost for the Office of Innovation/IDEA Center to set up a Curriculum Committee as a sub-committee to the current ESTEEM Advisory Board. Serve as primary Faculty Lead in creating new strategic academic partnerships and startup programming within the IDEA Center and external partners. Serve as the Faculty Lead in assisting Recruiting/Admissions to create and develop a pipeline of very talented/innovative Latin America students coming to ESTEEM in the future. Support Placement/Outcomes efforts with a focus on developing more professional opportunities for our ESTEEM graduates in startups and rapidly growing young companies, as well as in the venture capital community. Qualifications: Requires a Master's Degree in technology, entrepreneurship, innovation or a closely related field is required along with concentration in economics (with a strong focus on statistics, econometric modeling, etc.) -- or data analytics -- at either the undergraduate or graduate level or both.
